Troubleshooting

Light LUXI Blue refresh result is insufficient

A light LUXI Blue refresh is suitable only for minor wear marks; deeper scratches may need a full staged process.

A refreshed ring inspected under a loupe with deeper service scratches still visible.

Symptoms

  • Light gloss appears but scratches remain
  • Customer expects new-jewellery finish
  • Surface looks refreshed but not fully restored

Likely causes

  • Damage was deeper than light wear
  • One-step commercial refresh was chosen for a restoration-level task
  • Wheel condition, pressure or preparation was unsuitable

Checks

  • Confirm whether the goal is light refresh shine or a new high-jewellery finish
  • Assess scratch depth before polishing
  • Check buff cleanliness and compound amount

Recommended fixes

  • Move to a staged first-stage and final-lustre workflow if appropriate
  • Reset client expectation
  • Avoid overworking coated or unknown items

Prevention

  • Use the light refresh workflow only for minor wear
  • Screen for deep scratches first
  • Do not use one-step refresh as a universal restoration method

Warning for plated or coated surfaces

Coated surfaces may include electroplating, flash plating, PVD/CVD coatings, lacquers and other decorative or protective layers. Mechanical polishing may thin, remove, discolor, detach or otherwise damage such coatings. Do not polish coated surfaces unless the coating type, thickness and repair strategy are understood and tested.
