Identify the layer system before polishing, then decide whether to restore the coating, replace the finish or decline the work.

LUXI Green is used where a standard polishing wheel does not create the right contact zone: inside a ring, on a small felt attachment, on a cotton wrap or in a small closed form.

LUXI Purple is used where an ordinary polishing wheel or a smooth felt attachment cannot reach the working zone: in relief, recesses, undercuts, between elements, on chains and in areas where compound must be transferred by a brush, cotton thread or cord.

A special strong first-stage workflow for platinum, titanium, stainless steel, and other hard or difficult metals. Use LUXI Black on sisal only when a correctly prepared surface and a less aggressive working tool cannot complete the first stage. After sisal cut-down, wash, cool, and inspect the item; when necessary, continue the first stage with LUXI Black on a separate clean hard stitched cotton wheel.

Large planar surfaces: intensifying the first polishing stage

Large planar and near-planar surfaces require a more active and more precisely tuned first-polishing-stage setup. On these items, scratches, waves, preparation marks, uneven metal removal and loss of geometry are especially visible.

Surface preparation before LUXI

LUXI can reduce the number of polishing stages and make the process more controlled, but it does not replace correct surface preparation. Polishing must not be used to correct shape defects, deep scratches, coarse preparation marks, casting defects, protrusions, burrs, soldering problems or geometry errors.

Do not guess which abrasive steps can be removed. Record your current process, prepare identical samples stopped at different abrasive stages, use testing to choose the optimal LUXI first-stage compound for each stage, finish with LUXI Super Fine White and select the optimal result through quality control.

Test-polish a matching scrap sample to establish a safe combination of speed, pressure and contact time before working on the item.

Wheel preparation and minimal LUXI compound application

More compound does not mean better polishing. In the LUXI working process, an overloaded wheel loses controlled contact and can slow surface formation. Clean the wheel completely before adding LUXI compound with a single touch.

Washing after LUXI polishing

Washing after LUXI polishing removes residues of polishing compound, removed metal and contamination that remain on the item and in hard-to-reach areas after polishing. It is not an additional polishing step and not a way to correct a mistake from the previous stage. It is a controlled final process that must preserve the surface already obtained.

Preparation before electroplating and coatings

Preparation before electroplating and other coatings does not begin in the bath. It begins with sanding, polishing, finishing and washing. If a decorative, protective or electroplated coating will be applied to an item after polishing, the surface must be fully formed, stabilized and cleaned before the item is sent for coating.

How to use workflows

For new alloys or unusual geometry, test the procedure on a small area before applying it to the whole piece.
