Process steps
- Identify the tool type: wheel, small wheel, brush, rotary tool, thread or cord.
- Measure or identify the wheel or tool diameter.
- Identify rpm or mark it as unknown.
- Compare the setup with the standard 6 inch wheel reference.
- If using an 8 inch wheel, watch for higher surface speed and heat.
- If using a 4 inch wheel or small tool, expect lower surface speed and lower heat.
- If compound feels dry or recessed areas remain dull, consider low-temperature route development.
- Record diameter, rpm and tool type as part of process development.
