Workshop Capability and Process Development

How to check the real tools, wheels, speed control and compound range available before adapting a LUXI polishing route.

Why capability check matters

LUXI recommendations should not assume that every workshop has the full ideal setup. A workshop may have the full LUXI compound range, a limited wheel range, fixed motor speed, unknown rpm, one first-stage wheel, one final-stage wheel, no frequency control, or a complete adjustable setup.

Before giving a polishing route, the system should identify the real variables available to the user. This makes the recommendation more honest and more useful: some parameters can be selected freely, while others must be treated as fixed workshop conditions.

Ideal / full capability mode

A full capability workshop has the full LUXI Sample Assortment or full compound range, a broad wheel range, standard 2500-3000 rpm, a low-speed option around 1000 rpm, variable speed or a frequency inverter, and the ability to test wheel + compound + rpm combinations.

In this mode the system may suggest an ideal route, alternative route, low-speed route, aggressive route, delicate route, and a process-development test matrix.

Constrained mode

A common real-world situation is that the user has the full LUXI Sample Assortment, but motor speed is fixed and only one first-stage wheel plus one final-stage wheel are available.

Use the available wheels and motor speed as fixed variables. Tune the process by changing compound aggressiveness and working technique. In practice this means adjusting compound selection, amount of compound, pressure, contact time, inspection frequency and number of passes.

Insufficient setup

Below a minimum level, meaningful LUXI testing is not reliable. The minimum meaningful setup is the full LUXI Sample Assortment, one suitable first-stage wheel, one suitable final-stage wheel, and at least roughly known motor speed.

This setup is insufficient for meaningful LUXI process testing when the user does not have enough compounds, suitable wheels or speed information to compare controlled routes.

Role of LUXI Sample Assortment

LUXI Sample Assortment is not only a starter kit. It is a process-development tool. It allows the user to test compound aggressiveness, finish quality and route adaptation even when wheel choice and motor speed are limited.

The sample-size compounds should not be confused with full-size compound bars. Their role is to explore and tune the process. Once a successful route is identified, production can move to the appropriate full-size bar or packaging format.
