Practical note

Continue only after inspecting the item, identifying the base metal and coating where possible, warning the client, obtaining consent and testing in an inconspicuous area. Stop if the coating changes; do not promise restoration for PVD, CVD or lacquer.

User responsibility and process control

The operator is responsible for selecting the process parameters, monitoring temperature, pressure, wheel condition and visual result, and stopping or adjusting the process when the specific item requires it. LUXI recommendations should be applied with professional judgement and controlled testing.

Warning for plated or coated surfaces

Coated surfaces may include electroplating, flash plating, PVD/CVD coatings, lacquers and other decorative or protective layers. Mechanical polishing may thin, remove, discolor, detach or otherwise damage such coatings. Do not polish coated surfaces unless the coating type, thickness and repair strategy are understood and tested.
