This workflow describes a special local correction with LUXI Asian Blue and a short stiff bristle brush in inside angles, wedge-shaped cavities, difficult recesses, local porosity zones, and complex relief. It is not a general brush-polishing route for the whole item and it is not a finishing stage.
When to use it
Use this route only when a normal wheel or a softer local carrier cannot create sufficient controlled contact in the specific zone.
Before starting, complete:
- item geometry;
- required repair;
- abrasive preparation of the target zone;
- the normal first stage on accessible open surfaces.
Do not use LUXI Asian Blue directly after casting. Deep cracks, open cavities, major pores, protruding defects, and shape errors must be corrected before polishing.
Brush selection
Use a clean short stiff bristle brush whose size, form, and stiffness reach the target zone and maintain stable local contact without smoothing the surrounding relief, edges, or raised details.
No universal brush model, bristle length, working diameter, or rpm range is prescribed. For a powered brush, consider actual diameter, linear surface speed, rotational stability, rpm drop under load, contact area, and surface temperature.
This workflow does not prescribe a metal wire brush.
Local correction
Apply a minimal amount of LUXI Asian Blue to a clean brush. Work in short repeatable passes only in the problem zone. Do not spread the aggressive correction across the whole item, and do not compensate for weak contact with increased pressure, excess compound, or prolonged continuous contact.
Between passes, remove contamination, allow the area to cool, and inspect it under directed light and magnification. Confirm that the brush reaches the bottom or inside surface of the zone without damaging edges or fine relief.
Completion criterion
The local correction is complete when:
- the target preparation marks or local unevenness have been removed within the polishing capability of LUXI;
- the surface in the zone is even;
- edges, raised details, and fine relief are preserved;
- there is no noticeable overheating, smearing, increasing haze, or unstable result after cleaning.
LUXI Asian Blue is not a final brush-polishing compound. Do not continue aggressive action after the local objective has been achieved.
After correction
Remove LUXI Asian Blue, removed metal, and brush contamination completely. Allow the item to cool and inspect the zone under directed light and magnification.
Select any softer local stage by geometry and carrier. LUXI Purple may be used with a bristle brush, cotton thread, or cotton cord when that carrier matches the task, but LUXI Purple is not an automatic next stage after LUXI Asian Blue.
Use the separate LUXI Green route for small cotton and felt tools. LUXI Green is not inserted automatically into this sequence.
Stop conditions
Stop if:
- the surface becomes noticeably hot;
- the brush smooths edges, raised details, or fine relief;
- contact becomes unstable;
- the bristles become damaged or loaded;
- haze increases after cleaning;
- pores, cracks, or cavities open or grow;
- the result remains unstable after cooling and cleaning.
These conditions require a return to preparation, repair, or production-suitability assessment rather than an automatic increase in compound, pressure, or contact duration.
Cleaning and coatings
Select the cleaning method for the whole item: material, construction, inserts, joints, coating, and next operation. LUXI iClean, ultrasonic cleaning, heated solution, solvent, and steam are not prescribed automatically.
Do not mechanically polish a thin decorative, protective, electroplated, or PVD coating that must be preserved. Identify an unknown coating first.
