Contamination after red rouge polishing remains in recesses

After polishing with a traditional red rouge paste, dark hard-to-remove contamination may remain in recesses, pores, or between fine details.

Dark red residue retained in several grooves of a clean silvery relief under inspection.

Symptoms

  • Dark contamination remains in recesses or pores.
  • The item looks polished on open surfaces but still shows contamination in details.

Likely causes

  • Too much compound was used.
  • The wheel or brush overloaded the detail.
  • A traditional red rouge paste left persistent contamination.
  • Cleaning did not reach the recessed geometry.

Checks

  • Inspect after cleaning under strong light.
  • Check whether contamination is in pores, undercuts, settings or texture.
  • Check wheel cleanliness and compound amount.

Recommended fixes

  • Reduce compound amount.
  • Clean the wheel before recharging.
  • Use LUXI iClean where the material allows controlled ultrasonic cleaning.
  • If transitioning from traditional rouge, test LUXI Red as a cleaner rouge-style bridge.

Prevention

  • Use minimal compound and inspect recesses after cleaning.
  • Do not send contamination-sensitive items to coating before a clean post-cleaning inspection.
