Ultrasonic cleaning additive

LUXI iClean

cleaning solution

LUXI iClean is an ultrasonic-cleaning concentrate for removing polishing-compound residue and other contamination after polishing. Use one part concentrate to ten parts water, keep the solution at or below 50 °C, use a normal cycle of about 30 seconds, and never exceed 60 seconds in a single cycle without removing and inspecting the item.

Application context

Prepare the working solution as one part LUXI iClean concentrate plus ten parts water. The ratio refers to the concentrate and water added to the bath; it is not a percentage statement and must not be silently reformulated.

Use LUXI iClean for items made from gold, silver, brass, bronze, platinum, palladium alloys, and stainless steel. Before ultrasonic cleaning, assess the entire item. Stones, pearls, enamels, adhesive joints, coatings, hollow elements, and complex construction may require a gentler cleaning method or may exclude ultrasonic cleaning altogether.

The working solution must not exceed 50 °C. A normal ultrasonic-cleaning cycle is about 30 seconds. Remove and inspect the item after the cycle. A single cycle must not exceed 60 seconds. Run another cycle only after checking the surface and difficult-access areas.

If polishing-compound residue remains, first check the amount of compound used during polishing, the condition of the wheel, and access to the contaminated area. Excess compound, a contaminated wheel, or compound packed into deep relief must not be compensated for by increasing solution temperature, ultrasonic power, or cleaning time.

Cleaning is complete when no compound, metal particles, greasy film, or contamination remains on the surface, in settings, inside corners, undercuts, or other difficult-access areas. Before electroplating, PVD, or another coating, inspect the item under directed light.

After ultrasonic cleaning, rinse the item thoroughly in clean water, steam-clean it, and dry it completely. No solution marks or dried water spots may remain on the surface.

Stop cleaning immediately if the surface becomes cloudy, loses lustre, changes colour, or if a coating, stone, enamel, or another sensitive element begins to change. Do not repeat the cycle until the cause has been identified.

LUXI iClean is not automatically suitable for every polished item. Material compatibility alone is not enough; the whole item, including all inserts, joints, coatings, and construction features, must tolerate the selected cleaning method.

Where iClean is used

LUXI iClean completes the polishing process by removing polishing-compound residue and other contamination. After clean-water rinsing, steam cleaning, and complete drying, the clean surface is passed to final inspection, electroplating, PVD, or another next operation.

Washing after LUXI polishing

Washing after LUXI polishing

Washing after LUXI polishing removes residues of polishing compound, removed metal and contamination that remain on the item and in hard-to-reach areas after polishing. It is not an additional polishing step and not a way to correct a mistake from the previous stage. It is a controlled final process that must preserve the surface already obtained.

Clean finishing before electroplating and PVD

Choose one finishing product, a separate clean wheel, and a compatible cleaning method before electroplating, PVD, or another operation sensitive to compound residue.

Preparation before plating and coatings

Preparation before electroplating and coatings

Preparation before electroplating and other coatings does not begin in the bath. It begins with sanding, polishing, finishing and washing. If a decorative, protective or electroplated coating will be applied to an item after polishing, the surface must be fully formed, stabilized and cleaned before the item is sent for coating.

Approved green brush with black bristles for LUXI Purple brush and thread workflow

LUXI Purple for brushes, cord, thread, relief and recesses

LUXI Purple is used where an ordinary polishing wheel or a smooth felt attachment cannot reach the working zone: in relief, recesses, undercuts, between elements, on chains and in areas where compound must be transferred by a brush, cotton thread or cord.
