Troubleshooting

Polyurethane does not polish well

Hard polyurethane may not fit the standard LUXI Brown -> LUXI Beige polymer route and requires separate testing.

Symptoms

  • Surface resists polishing.
  • Compound seems to work without improving the surface.

Likely causes

  • High abrasion resistance.
  • The material may not fit the standard LUXI Brown -> LUXI Beige route.

Checks

  • Confirm whether the material is polyurethane.
  • Test separately on scrap or hidden material.

Recommended fixes

  • Do not assume the normal polymer route will work.
  • Test separately and choose another process if polishing remains ineffective.

Prevention

  • Classify polyurethane separately from acrylic, epoxy, polycarbonate and polyester routes.
  • Avoid production polishing before a test confirms the route.
