UV resin prototype overheats

UV resin prototypes may have low heat resistance and need very short low-speed contacts.

Symptoms

  • Prototype surface softens quickly.
  • Details smear or lose edge definition.

Likely causes

  • Low heat resistance.
  • Too long contact.
  • Uncertain curing or resin formulation.

Checks

  • Check whether the resin is fully cured.
  • Test on support material or a failed print first.

Recommended fixes

  • Use lower speed and shorter contacts.
  • Test on scrap material before working on the prototype.

Prevention

  • Treat UV resin as heat-sensitive until testing proves otherwise.
  • Avoid continuous contact.
