Tripoli paste residue is difficult to remove

For zinc and tin alloys, LUXI Brown can replace the traditional Tripoli first stage and leave a cleaner surface before LUXI Pink.

Brown-gray Tripoli-type residue trapped in the relief of a silvery-gray pewter or zamak cast buckle.

Symptoms

  • Brown or grey residue remains in recesses after a traditional Tripoli paste process.
  • Cleaning requires stronger washing than desired.

Likely causes

  • Residue from Tripoli-type paste can be difficult to remove.
  • Residue may be trapped in pores, recesses or textured surfaces.

Checks

  • Check whether the material is zamak, pewter, zinc alloy or tin alloy.
  • Inspect recesses before final finish or coating.

Recommended fixes

  • Consider LUXI Brown as a cleaner replacement for the traditional Tripoli first stage, followed by LUXI Pink.
  • Use controlled cleaning rather than unnecessarily aggressive washing.

Prevention

  • Choose a cleaner first-stage route when residue removal matters.
