Hard second-group surface remains matte after LUXI Black + Sisal

A hard second-group surface may need more controlled cut-down until the first stable shine appears, or sanding readiness may need review.

What do material groups mean?
A uniformly matte hard-metal ring beside a coarse woven sisal wheel and an inspection loupe.

Symptoms

  • The surface is smoother but remains fully matte after LUXI Black + Sisal.
  • No first controlled shine appears before the Calico stage.

Likely causes

  • Cut-down stage stopped too early.
  • Sanding readiness is still insufficient.
  • Wheel is overloaded or not cutting cleanly.

Checks

  • Clean the Sisal buff if overloaded.
  • Inspect whether sanding marks remain.

Recommended fixes

  • Continue with short controlled LUXI Black + Sisal contacts if the surface is improving.
  • Return to sanding if the same defects remain unchanged.

Prevention

  • Define the expected matte-to-first-shine transition before moving to the next stage.
