Troubleshooting

Small felt tools may not generate enough heat for standard polishing paste

An 8 mm felt tool at 15000 rpm has much lower surface speed than a 6 inch wheel at 2500 rpm.

Symptoms

  • The felt polishing point turns quickly but the compound feels dry or inactive.
  • The surface brightens slowly or unevenly.

Likely causes

  • An 8 mm felt tool at 15000 rpm has about 6.28 m/s surface speed, far below a 6 inch wheel at 2500 rpm.
  • The compound binder may not reach the working state expected on a larger wheel.

Checks

  • Measure or estimate felt tool diameter.
  • Check rpm and compare surface speed with the reference table.

Recommended fixes

  • Use LUXI Green as the controlled low-temperature route.
  • Use minimal compound and short passes instead of increasing pressure.

Prevention

  • Do not judge small felt tools by rpm alone.
  • Develop felt-tool routes separately from standard wheel polishing.
