Troubleshooting

Defects remain after first-stage polishing

Remaining defects may be deeper than polishing can realistically close or soften.

Symptoms

  • Defects remain visible after first-stage polishing.
  • The surface is brighter but pits, cavities or deep scratches remain.

Likely causes

  • Defects are deeper than the realistic polishing range.
  • The first-stage compound is not aggressive enough for the geometry.
  • Laser repair or rejection may be more rational than continued polishing.

Checks

  • Classify defect size, depth, location and visibility.
  • Decide whether to continue first-stage polishing, escalate, laser repair or reject/remelt.

Recommended fixes

  • For large flat first-group surfaces, replace the first-stage compound with LUXI Yellow or LUXI Black if justified.
  • Use laser repair for valuable local defects.
  • Reject or remelt low-value items when repair is not justified.

Prevention

  • Use diagnostic inspection before committing to full polishing time.
  • Do not expect final polish to remove deep structural defects.
