LUXI Super Fine White is the standard finishing compound for first-group materials: copper alloys including brass and bronze, silver alloys, and most gold alloys. After the first polishing stage has been fully completed, it brings the surface to a high, even lustre with minimal removal.

Application context

Use LUXI Super Fine White only after abrasive preparation and the first polishing stage have been fully completed. At this point, all visible marks from the last abrasive must have been removed and the surface must already be levelled and formed. No scratches, previous-stage lines, pronounced dullness, waves, or areas of unfinished geometry should remain. LUXI Super Fine White further smooths and stabilizes the already formed near-surface layer, but it does not replace the first-stage compound. The different responsibilities of the first polishing stage and finishing are explained in “How the finishing stage differs from the first polishing stage.”

The main working tools are a clean unstitched muslin wheel and a clean unstitched flannel wheel. Use muslin for the standard finish. Choose the softer flannel wheel when a higher final lustre is required. For a wheel approximately 150 mm in diameter, the working starting range is 2500–3000 rpm. Stitched wheels, sisal, and felt tools are not part of the public LUXI Super Fine White recommendation. Apply LUXI Super Fine White minimally and clean the working face of the wheel regularly to remove old compound and removed metal. The wheel must work directly on the surface; a thick compound layer between the wheel and the item weakens contact, makes the result harder to assess, and increases the contamination that must later be removed. Use lighter pressure than during the first polishing stage, work in short smooth passes, and inspect the surface regularly under directed light. The relationship between minimal application, wheel cleanliness, surface stability, and subsequent washing is explained in “Compound chemistry and clean-polishing logic” and in the practical workflow “Wheel preparation and minimal LUXI compound application.”

For gold and most gold alloys, LUXI Super Fine White is the standard final-polishing choice after the appropriate first stage. The workflow “Final lustre for gold” explains the practical process, the distinction from LUXI Orange, and assessment after washing. LUXI Super Fine White is the standard finish, while LUXI Orange is selected for a more demanding surface or preparation before coating.

On silver alloys, assess not only the lustre immediately after polishing but also the stability of the surface after the compound has been removed. Ultrasonic washing that is too long, too hot, or too aggressive can produce a milky haze and expose weaknesses left by the previous stage. A fully completed first stage, a clean unstitched wheel, minimal LUXI Super Fine White, and short gentle washing are therefore especially important on silver. On brass, bronze, and other copper alloys, LUXI Super Fine White completes polishing after a first-stage compound selected for the hardness of the alloy, the contact area, and the condition of the surface. The criterion remains unchanged: all marks from the last abrasive must be fully removed and the first stage must have formed an even surface without visible scratches before LUXI Super Fine White is used.

Polishing is complete when the surface has a high, even lustre and a uniform reflection, and the result remains stable after all compound has been removed. If dull areas or scratches remain after short passes, the surface becomes cloudy, or the lustre deteriorates after washing, check abrasive preparation, completion of the first stage, wheel type and cleanliness, the amount of LUXI Super Fine White, and pressure. Additional finishing compound must not be used instead of correcting the previous stage.

LUXI Super Fine White, LUXI Red, and LUXI Orange perform different finishing tasks and do not form a mandatory sequence. LUXI Super Fine White is the standard finish for a high, even lustre. Choose LUXI Red when black-trace inspection of micropores and small irregularities is useful. Choose LUXI Orange when an exceptionally bright surface or a more demanding finish is required before electroplating, PVD, or another operation sensitive to compound residue.

LUXI Super Fine White may also be used before electroplating or PVD when the required surface quality has been achieved. After polishing, remove the compound completely and inspect the clean surface under directed light, paying particular attention to micropores, recesses, relief, settings, inside corners, spaces between elements, and areas around stones. LUXI Super Fine White brings an already formed first-group surface to a high, even lustre and helps stabilize it before washing and final inspection. Choose LUXI Red for black-trace surface inspection, and LUXI Orange for an exceptionally bright finish or more demanding surface requirements before coating.

LUXI can reduce the number of polishing stages and make the process more controlled, but it does not replace correct surface preparation. Polishing must not be used to correct shape defects, deep scratches, coarse preparation marks, casting defects, protrusions, burrs, soldering problems or geometry errors.

More compound does not mean better polishing. In the LUXI working process, an overloaded wheel loses controlled contact and can slow surface formation. Clean the wheel completely before adding LUXI compound with a single touch.
